Cherry Delight Quilt Kit
Okay, I take it all back... everything I ever said, or didn't say, about "those people" who buy premade kits and copy designer work instead of thinking for themselves and doing something original.
I was just at Joanna's Fresh Figs and she has designed the sweetest, darlingest, most adorable, I-want-to-snuggle-in-it-quilt I've ever seen. I'm gonna make it. Soon. Not now, but soon.

Yard sale failure
Well, I tried, folks. I was gonna offer my beautiful silver Lincoln LS next, but with no takers on my free offerings, I'm sure that would be a waste too.
So, my sister in Upland will receive about 10 of the very big plastic tubs of crafting tools and paint and 2 sewing machines. My other sister has stepped forward for some of my gorgeous hand-painted furniture. My son is driving his truck 12 hours each way to collect some very large mirrors and antique furniture. I still have more than a dozen large art pieces to find a loving home for. And a marvelous walnut newspaper desk thought to have belonged to John Steinbeck.
And a little black dog.

art and craft magazines giveaway
giveaway Plastic Gothic Garden Frame
If you lift the monitor and tilt it 90 degrees to the right, you'll find a delightful garden accessory, which I dug out of a dumpster in Bull Head City several years ago. It's actually much less pretty than it appears in my point and shoot soft focus. If it was really this cute, I'd probably keep it. I'm sure it would be, however, the perfect addition to your yard. Love, Sam
Giveaway Coolest Bike Ever
giveaway: little black dog
This charming young man has been my houseguest for several weeks. His family moved away, and Whisper adopted him, brought him home to be fed and sheltered. I've advertised on Craigs List and locally, checked him for a chip, put signs up all over town...He is the sweetest thing, still teething, mostly on paper and plastic, not shoes, thank goodness.
He needs a good home and an inside bed (preferably yours).

Slight Delay
Remember what Gilda Radner always said?
"If it's not one thing, it's your Mother!"
Back later tonight after Guild or tomorrow to get the show on the road.

Quilt Stash Giveaway
Here's how it works. I'm moving and clearing out years of "collected" books, accessories, stuff and more stuff. So for you, my dear 8 followers, I'll post everything as the packing days go by and if you want something tell me and I'll send it on its way.
If you're not a follower, and you happen upon me in my obscurity, you're invited to join in the free yard sale too.
There are some large hand-painted shabby chic pieces (not everything in my life is about fabric and art) but since the point is not to ship them 3500 miles, if you want them come get them.
Starting Saturday morning, first come first served!
love, sam

Whisper Blue
This morning in church the pastor reminded us that everyone has a guardian angel who walks beside us and guides us as we go through life. Now, I've never been one to believe in white flowing robes and beautiful outstretched wings (though I do love the art). Earlier this morning a new blogger friend attributed his incredible artistic talent to his angels.
It came to me this evening, as Whisper was doing his rounds, checking all the doors, and tucking the family in, that I do indeed have a living guardian angel in my life. No one gives me a safer more loving acceptance than this dog. I am very grateful. love Sam

Color addiction
I've been staring at this all week. It just hangs on the wall and I just stare. There are two blocks in the middle I really, really want to move. But I also really really don't want to tear all those edges apart again, my corners are so lovely.
I've got two new grandchildren who need quilts, six quilts promised to child protective services, another Kaffe ready for final block decisions, it's on the trimming table, a snowball Kaffe cut out and resting in a lovely hatbox, a French General quilt or three to make just for myself, a beautiful totebag to lug to quild if it ever gets handles, and I'm staring at a totally unnecessary batik. It is beautiful. Maybe that's enough.

Working on this...
This is my test to see if my camera still works after 5 years in the desert and with a brand new usb cord, (I think some desert rat chewed the old one up).
I bought a lot of Kaffe at QuiltHome.com last month and have several quilts and projects in the works, but this is the first one and I'm eager to finish it and send it to GreenFairy so she can do her magic.
Today I'm working on cutting and sewing heartstrings blocks and will try to get some art posted as I go. Happy day --- Sam

just another day
... and then she said, hold on Sam, I think I have to go to the emergency room. My mother, as I was headed out the door this morning to look for some sky fabrics for my growing tiny house village. She's ok, blood pressure back to normal. and I had a great 4 hour visit at the hospital with my sister, my other sister, my aunt, my great niece and my NIL and her darling 6 year old.
And I got my Easter Basket delivered to Shoes that Fit in Claremont, My aunt and I created a wonderful gift for a fifth grade boy -- new breathable leather Adidas, sweat remover socks (six pair) the biggest Reeses Easter egg I've ever seen, A darling Seuss stuffed toy, assorted Easter goodies. And then I thought, why didn't I make him a pillowcase? Which I mentioned to my aunt, in the hospital lobby, and she said I'm sure that would be nice, but don't you think a quilt would be better?
so I hereby commit to 2 quilts for the Christmas Shoes that Fit. They try to supply 200 elementary children with new jackets and Christmas gifts. I think I'll ask for a boy and a girl so I can have the fun of making and buying for a girl for a change.
If you would like to make a pillowcase or a quilt for this program, leave me a note and I'll send you contact info. Good day, Sam

First IV Modern Quilt Quild Meeting
Here we are yesterday afternoon at the Quilters Coop in Temecula getting to know one another and enjoying talking story about each others work. Show and tell was amazing -- so many aspects of fresh modern textile art. Inspired me to spend most of today bent over my sewing machine or staring at the design wall.
